Last Saturday, Token News, a blockchain media based in Hong Kong organized a meetup about Blockchain & Smart cities. They invited Ricardo Medrano (Nem Hong Kong) and other speakers to share different approach using Blockchain for Smart Cities.

The event was a success considering it took more than 4 hours on Saturday afternoon/evening. Around 100 attenders were there. Some Nem friends came to the event and we met new projects interested in use NEM. Conversations are in progress.

For this occasion, Ricardo had the assistance of KC, a programmer and trainer of the company Blockchain educators (They are offering online courses, including Nem Blockchain Certificate Training ) KC is giving in-person courses in HK about NEM for developers.
Together they chose 2 real cases of NEM, Lanstead and IOTNEM. The 2 cases can be applied for small and large cities.

LANDSTEAD

Landstead uses NEM blockchain technology to create a registry of land and property, allowing government and citizens to co-create an open blockchain system that can be trusted and consulted by interested parties.

ioNEM

ioNEM facilitate the ownership of one or a group of IoT devices of any kind on-chain.
Control, manage, and secure the daily use of IoT devices off chain (fee free and secure).
Allow IoT devices to communicate with others through the chain if necessary.

During the event, Ricardo was interviewed by Kanae Fujita and Cheryl Francis from www.asiablockchainreview.com. They asked about the NEM Blockchain Centre in Kuala Lumpur, the biggest in Asia, key features of NEM and real use cases.

In conclusion, it is proven that NEM can be applied to any industry and is compatible with disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence and Internet of things.
