Thoresen Thai Agencies PCL (TTA) and the NEM Foundation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NEM to work together in opening a Bangkok Blockchain Centre in the city’s Central Business District (CBD).

NEM will base their Thailand Office in the Bangkok Blockchain Centre and NEM & TTA will work together to advance Blockchain education and advocacy in Thailand. The Bangkok Blockchain center will be a one-stop shop consisting of a co-working space, coffee corner, and NEMSpace. The opening of the centre is expected in Q3 2018.

The MoU was signed in the NEM Blockchain Centre in Kuala Lumpur between Laura Takenaka, NEM Thailand Chief Representative & Country Manager and Mr. Chalermchai Mahagitsiri, CEO of TTA. Stephen Chia, NEM Southeast Asia Regional Head was also in attendance as the counter-signatory for the MoU.

“This is a great step forward for Blockchain adoption in Thailand and we hope through our partnership with TTA, that more Thai’s will come and learn about this great technology,” said Laura Takenaka.

The upcoming Bangkok Blockchain Centre will be housed in the Orakarn Building on Ploenchit Road in Downtown Bangkok, conveniently accessible from the BTS Skytrain Chitlom station. It aims to be the premier space for co-working and all things Blockchain.

“All around the Southeast Asian (SEA)region, blockchain technology is becoming an increasingly important cornerstone technology for companies looking for robust tamper proof, scalable and highly available transaction network,” said Stephen Chia.

“With our partnership with TTA Group, we believe it will bring more companies to build and rely on NEM blockchain for their internal systems. We look forward to this partnership and with the Bangkok Blockchain Centre, it will increase the awareness and use of the technology in Thailand in enterprises, government and the public,” Stephen added.
