FAQ: Can I use the NEM Blockchain to store data?
NEM Blockchain can perform value transactions, with the addition of a very powerful feature where it can send messages up to 1024 byte long.
ProximaX, a platforms for dapps, adds data transactions to NEM’s Blockchain solution. Data transactions, in our definition, is the ability to store binary files of any kind, be it a graphic file, a word document, a video or a spreadsheet.
This adds breadth and depth to the blockchain solution, as now you can store immutable and irreversible data that is permissioned and encrypted.
How does it work?
ProximaX breaks a file into many pieces (a process called sharding), encrypts each piece of information, and stores that into multiple and distributed nodes. In order to re-assemble the file, you need to have a key. The file’s transaction hash ID is stored on the NEM Blockchain, using its messaging feature.
