A Summary of APAC Tour

Neo Smart Economy

2018 is going to be a remarkable year for NEO.

The first NEO DevCon was held in Los Angeles on Jan. 30. This global get-together of top developers presents a renewed image of NEO and arouses enthusiasm among community members and developers to learn about NEO first-hand in the hope of gaining a deep insight about blockchain technology.

In response, we have made a global promotional plan, which starts with NEO APAC Tour, an event that we have seen through in March.

NEO APAC Tour was launched on Mar. 3 in Singapore, followed by Tokyo, Taipei, Melbourne and Sydney Meetups. Seoul was the last stop that brought the whole journey to a conclusion on Mar. 16. The APAC Tour was teeming with passion among community members and developers.

Taipei

Taipei, in particular, hosted two events — Meetup and Mini Hackathon, attended by many insightful and skilled developers.

The final result was unveiled last weekend and we will continue to update you on the latest news of the winning projects.

Melbourne

It’s noteworthy that Melbourne Meetup was the first NEO event held in Australia. The event was attended by over 400 people, even leaving the spacious venue over-crowded.

Mar, 13 witnessed APAC blockchain conference take place. It was an Australian-government-hosted conference where Da Hongfei was invited to share his insights on “Building a Compliance Ready Blockchain”.

Da began by briefing about the past and present of NEO smart economy. He didn’t forget to reiterate the goal of making NEO the No.1 blockchain by 2020, in terms of the market value, but more in the sense of “optimized performance, diversified ecology and compliant solutions”.

Blockchain must be technology-oriented and compliant. The following four points explain why compliance matters so much:

  • It eliminates the uncertainty of regulation.
  • It minimizes risks of scams, Ponzi schemes, rigging and hacker attack.
  • It gives birth to mainstream financial institutions.
  • It makes it possible for real business activities to take place on blockchain.

Given the considerations above, NEO is compliance ready and willing to be regulated. Regulation won’t stifle innovation of blockchain technology; quite on the contrary, it will gradually eliminate negative factors that stand in the way of the industry growth.

Besides, Da also introduced NEO’s dBFT consensus mechanism and fundamentals of blockchain technology.

Sydney

Sydney Meetup is another event overwhelmed by the dynamism and enthusiasm of Australian community. Over 600 people signed up for the event, but only 300 were granted admittance because of the limited space.

Da couldn’t make it to the event as he had to leave for Seoul Meetup. But he made a Skype call in response to the passion of community fans.

Seoul

In Seoul Meetup, Da presented NEO to the local community. Some eco-partners like 0chain, CoZ, O3, Qlink and Trinity also shared their project information.

The former day at Tokensky Conference in Seoul, Da readdressed the issue of compliance, mentioning the following areas that need to be compliant:

  • A non-anarchism community mindset
  • Digital identities
  • Building a compliance ready tech. stack

NEO aims to become the leader of compliance-ready blockchain project, to contribute to a better blockchain development environment.

NEO APAC Tour lasted almost 2 weeks, starting from Singapore and closing in Seoul.

Let’s review the wonderful moments.

Singapore

In Singapore Meetup, multiple projects within NEO Ecosystem gave speeches.

Tokyo

In Tokyo Meetup, not only many community members, but also local developers were attracted. And we got a warm atmosphere Workshop.

We are planning NEO Europe Tour in April , to improve the understanding of NEO. We will announce the schedule once we decide.
