Introducing Neo Bounty winner Assisterr in the BeWater AI Crypto Hackathon
Neo recently sponsored a bounty prize of US $2,000 as part of the AI x Crypto Hackathon, co-hosted by BeWater, OKX, BNB Chain, and other industry leaders. The hackathon concluded with an online and in-person demo day on May 30 in Singapore, where participants presented their projects to an esteemed panel of judges, including our own Head of Eco-Growth, John Wang.
All participants demonstrated exceptional skills in integrating blockchain technology with artificial intelligence. The winner of the Neo Bounty was the Assisterr project, which also secured first place in the “Tokenized AI and Incentives” track.
Assisterr is a Cambridge-based startup constructing a network of community-owned Small Language Models (SLMs). The project enables communities to collaborate and aggregate their expertise in niche subjects for the development and monetization of their own Small Language Models. Assisterr currently has an incentivised testnet with more than 100 AI agents operating live on it.
Neo selected Assisterr as the winner due to its demonstrated expertise in Small Language Models, which are more suitable for customized AI agents targeting blockchain applications.
John Wang expressed enthusiasm for the potential future collaboration, stating, “We are continually impressed by the groundbreaking projects that emerge from these hackathons. Neo has a tradition of hosting and sponsoring hackathons, which serve as an avenue for identifying projects for our ecosystem. Assisterr has demonstrated remarkable capabilities in SMLs, making it a deserving winner of the Neo Bounty Prize. We look forward to exploring future collaborations with Assisterr.”

Assisterr is planning to add Neo DevRel AI agent trained on tech documentation and codebase to its SLM store to provide better exposure for Neo tech stack. It is hoped this will help accelerate application development and onboard more builders with less friction.
