Naughty or Nice X-Mas: A Year-End Treat for the Neo Global Community

Dear Neo Community,

As we approach the end of 2024, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your unwavering support. It’s been a decade since Neo began, and we’ve come a long way, learning and growing through every challenge. We wouldn’t be here without you — you’ve truly been our angels on this journey. With the holiday season just around the corner, we’d love to show our thanks in a fun and festive way.

We will distribute 400 GIFT boxes among the community. Each GIFT is entitled to an equal split of a 400 GAS prize pool… or at least that’s what Santa had planned! You can choose to be “Naughty” and open your GIFT before Christmas in an attempt to snatch a greater share of GAS for yourself. Or you can be “Nice” and wait until Christmas day for a guaranteed and equal split with all other nice participants.

Different choices will lead to different amounts of rewards, and some naughty rascals might end up with nothing!

GIFTs will be distributed as NFTs and can be opened on the Neo X blockchain. The Naughty or Nice dApp was developed by Neo’s developer community, COZ, with the prize funding coming from the Neo Foundation, making it a collaborative effort by the community.

How to participate? Simply follow the steps below!

1. Join the list for the GIFT Airdrop

We’re distributing 400 GIFTs in total:

100 GIFTs are reserved for NeoPod Ambassadors at Sentinel and Architect levels.

Sentinels will receive 2 GIFTs each.
Architects will receive 5 GIFTs each.

300 GIFTs will go to participants who complete the following tasks:

Complete the designated tasks before the deadline December 16, 9 PM UTC-5.
Hold at least 10 GAS tokens in their Neo X wallet as of December 16, 10 PM, UTC-5.

Participants will be scanned in order of task completion and wallet verification, with GIFTs allocated to the first 300 eligible participants. Addresses identified as part of a Sybil attack will be disqualified from participation.

2. GIFT Airdrop

The Neo team will collect all 400 qualified addresses and distribute the GIFTs on December 18.

GIFTs will be distributed on Neo X, and we’ll share the link of the dApp for you to check and open soon. Stay tuned.

3. Naughty or Nice?

The GIFT can be opened as soon as you receive it, but the choice of when to open it is entirely up to you. If you choose to be naughty and open before Christmas, you might score a delightful bundle of GAS for yourself — though this reduces the total GAS pool available for those who patiently wait.

But beware, it’s a gamble. Naughty participants could just as easily find their GIFT empty, holding nothing but the metaphorical equivalent of a lump of coal. Meanwhile, those who choose to be nice will have fewer GIFTs in the prize pool to share with, increasing their potential rewards.

Here is how it works:

If you choose to be naughty and open your GIFT early (before Christmas*):

You have a 1 in 10 chance of winning 9 GAS.
You have a 9 in 10 chance of receiving nothing!

If you choose to be nice and wait to open your GIFT until Christmas*:

The remaining prize pool will be divided evenly among all participants that waited.

*Christmas is defined as 8 AM, UTC-5, December 25, 2024
