Story
The attack
Villagers in Sweetglen enjoyed living in their picturesque valley of soft grasses and plentiful groves that stretched from Candy Castle in the north to the harsh mountains of Canemor in the south. They were happy, hard-working people who lived carefree lives of frolicking and making $CANDY in Candyland’s largest factory. They had no set schedules and barely any guidance, making production somewhat unpredictable, but there was always enough $CANDY to around — at least, that’s what they thought.
In the nearby Canemor mountains, shunned Villagers coveted Sweetglen’s supply. These former Villagers were banished for becoming addicted to $CANDY. They overindulged repeatedly and turned into greedy hoarders of the precious commodity, refusing to share with the rest of the community. When they were cast out, they fled to the caves and marshes that dotted the craggy mountainside of Canemor and started to change, turning into Villains. Over the years, their $CANDY withdrawal warped them into monstrous creatures with various hideous features like fanged teeth, sunken eyes, or wicked grins. They wandered, aimless and alone, until a leader emerged to band them together.
As a Villager, he was a middle manager at the factory named Cyd, but to the Villains, he was Lord Rancyd. He scoured every cave and sifted every swamp, rallying Villains to his cause: on their own, they were insignificant, but together they were invincible. Once he amassed his army of crazed Villains, he put his secret plan to take over Sweetglen factory into action.
Rancyd’s forces waited for the cover of night on an evening when the factory was nearly filled to bursting and stormed the valley, catching the Villagers completely off-guard. Half mad and starved for $CANDY, the Villains fought with reckless abandon and an insatiable hunger for the sweet taste of victory. They started their attack by surrounding the town and methodically working their way toward the center, forcing the Villagers to flee their homes and seek refuge in the factory. The resistance was valiant, but futile, and the Villains soon had nearly everyone rounded up in or around the heart of the kingdom’s $CANDY production.
As the sun rose the following morning, the elder Villagers knew there was no chance to rally against the tenacious Villains, many of whom had already begun feasting on stockpiles of $CANDY, making them more ravenous rather than even the least bit satisfied. As a last-ditch effort, the elders decided to make one heroic push as a diversion, allowing a lone Villager to sneak away, cross the Soda Stream, and head up Gumdrop Peak to plead for aid from his Majesty in Candy Castle; however, the success of this brave Villager’s quest remains unknown to this day…
Since the attack, the Villains have taken complete control over the factory, forcing the Villagers to work brutal hours and stealing all the joy they previously felt at work. The Villagers do still earn their own $CANDY, but any time they try to claim it, the Villains ruthlessly tax it, taking a 20% cut and spreading it out amongst the other Villains with a current stake in the factory.
Some desperate Villagers have tried to hoard their $CANDY and make a break for it, leaving the factory and running off into the wilderness, but only half of those who tried have made it out. Those who get caught are stripped of their entire $CANDY collection and forced back to work, and even those who escape often end up crawling back, finding themselves unable to cope with the harsh life in the wilderness.
And so, Lord Rancyd and his Villains won. They oversee all the $CANDY, indulging to the height of their greed, deepening their addiction, and causing them to tighten their already strong grip. How long can the Villagers go on staking with their heads down, too scared to unstake for fear of losing everything or having to survive on their own, and too proud to claim and lose much of their hard-earned rewards to the Villains’ tax. Will their hopeful message to the King bring saviors from the Candy Castle, or will the Villagers live out their days under the increasingly heavy boot of the vile Lord Rancyd? Only time will tell the tale…
How to play
There are a total of 10'000 NFTs that players can mint. All the NFTs can exclusively be minted with $CANDY.
The mints can be grouped into two categories:
- Villagers
- Villains
Villagers
🍠Mint
Villagers are the common NFT type and have a 90% chance to be minted. They can have a bonus claim attribute with values ranging between 0 and 5%. You can send your villagers to the candy factory to work and earn $CANDY for you.
🍠Stake
Staked villagers are sent to the candy factory and earn 1000* $CANDY a day for their hard work.
🍠Claim
The hard-earned $CANDY can be claimed anytime but the villains also want their sweet share. They force you to pay a 20% tax to them. Taxed $CANDY is split among all the villains currently staked, proportional to their sugar scores.
🍠Unstake
You can also unstake the villager NFTs (they leave the factory). But careful! It is only possible after accumulating 2 days’ worth of $CANDY. There is also a 50% chance of ALL of your collected $CANDY being stolen by Villains.
Villains
🍠Mint
Villains are rare mints and have only a 10% chance to be minted. They come with a sugar attribute. The higher the sugar value, the higher the portion of $CANDY that they earn from taxes.
🍠Stake & Claim
Like the villagers, you can also send the villains to the factory (stake). They will oversee the work and claim the 20% tax when the villagers decide to cash in.
Ex.: When two villains are staked: Villain A has a sugar value of 10, and villain B has a sugar value of 5. So if 60'000 total $CANDY has been accumulated as taxes, then Villain A can claim 40'000, and B can claim 20'000 $CANDY.
🍠Unstake
You can also unstake the villains at any time which comes with no risk but then they also won’t collect taxes from villagers.
Generations & Stealing NFTs
The first 2000 NFTs belong to generation 0 and are called genesis NFTs. The other 8000 NFTs will therefore be of generation 1.
When minting a gen 1 NFT, there is a 10% chance that a random villain NFT owner steals your newly minted NFT. No matter if the mint is a villain or villager. Each staked villain has the same chance of stealing a gen 1 NFT. The sugar value does not matter in this case.
Genesis 0 mints are more powerful because these mints are safe and can’t be stolen.
