Code Freeze and Regression Testing Before Mainnet

We have reached the final stages of development and have performed a code freeze. All parts of the Neon EVM have been deployed to Devnet. This includes the Neon Proxy, NeonPass, and the Neon EVM Program. The team is currently performing regression testing to find and fix any bugs before Mainnet launch. Our Alpha Mainnet for the Neon EVM will be launching on Solana Devnet. All developers are invited to the Alpha launch by Neon Labs.

Additional testing is being done on several third-party integrations:

  • MoraSwap, which aims to be the #1 AMM on Neon, will be available within our Mainnet Alpha launch on Solana Devnet. MoraSwap can help projects test certain swap functions and provide liquidity pools for testing wrapped ERC-20 and Neon tokens.
  • Aleph, which provides decentralized data storage solutions for dApps seeking alternatives to AWS and Google Cloud, has co-developed an indexer dashboard that will be live in Mainnet Alpha.

We are excited to see these and others deploy their services and be a part of our growing community.

Updating Neon EVM to Version (1.9.12) of Solana

We will be updating the Neon EVM to a newer version of Solana to leverage Solana’s Transaction-wide Compute Budget.

Why is this important?

Transactions are processed as a single entity and are the primary unit of block

scheduling. In order to facilitate better block scheduling and account for the

computational cost of each transaction, the compute budget is moving to a

transaction-wide budget rather than per-instruction.

For information on the compute budget and how it is applied, see Solana’s Documentation here.

Governance

The Neon Team is about to finalize the integration of vesting contracts with governance. Currently, the team is working on modifying the vesting contracts to integrate them with governance to take into account any NEON tokens locked in vesting contracts. We are going to perform security auditing to our governance framework as soon as we are fully ready.

Operators Economy

The Neon team will be releasing a high-level overview of the Neon Operators Economy in the form of a medium article soon. Additionally, an API has been developed which will feed a set of metrics for operators to monitor transactions, performance, and more. Through this API and Prometheus, the team is building a Proxy activity monitor that will help visualize, for example, profit and loss for Operators facilitating Neon transactions.

NeonScan Update

As we roll out both the Indexing Dashboard and NeonScan tool, developers will find themselves equipped with all the essential tools required for deploying on Solana Mainnet. NeonScan will let users search the Neon blockchain for information such as block data, transactions, and addresses in a standard block explorer interface. By providing this functionality in conjunction with the indexing dashboard Aleph provides, developers will have an ideal developer toolkit at their fingertips.

Improving Our Docs for dApp Developers & Website Refresh

The team has reviewed the final version of the website revamp and we’re thrilled about the new version. Aside from the outstanding design, the new website boasts an improved user experience that lets users find and interface with our products much more intuitively. We are also rewriting, reorganizing, and refining our documentation aimed at developers. We welcome people of all skill levels to take a look and follow along with our guides to deploy their dApps on Neon. Keep an eye out for announcements in our official channels when these updates go live.
