Neonomics Kick-Off in Hafjell — February 2020

In true Norwegian style, the Neonomics team gathered together for our 2020 kick-off in the mountains of Hafjell. This experience allowed us to reflect and celebrate how far we have come over the past few year, and reset and focus on our goals for what’s shaping up to be a very exciting 2020.

Towards the end of 2019, we expanded the Neonomics presence internationally to Ukraine. With the launch of our new Ukranian office, as well as having a team with over 18 nationalities, it was a great opportunity to experience Norwegian hytte culture together.

Laptops left behind, we set off from Oslo towards Hafjell. With Solo in one hand, Kvikk Lunsj in the other, we were all ready for a well-deserved break in the mountains!

It isn’t a company kick-off without some team building activities, so that’s exactly what we did. In our teams, we ventured through the streets of Hafjell with a virtual reality game completing various challenges and sabotaging our much-loved colleagues in their other teams.

Ten thousand steps later, we enjoyed a delicious Norwegian dinner, drinks, and put on our dancing shoes!

Over the following days, some of the Neonomics team got their ski and snowboard gear out and hit the slopes, whilst others explored the area.

The year ahead of us

During our fun-filled trip, we also had the opportunity to reflect on our success from the past year, and also set our strategy and plans for 2020.

We felt it would be helpful if we shared a few of our priorities for the upcoming year:

  • Team expansion

During our founding year of 2017, we were a small group of less than 10 people. What started off as a small team, we have now grown to a team of more than 40 employees. Growing our team is still something that will be a key focus during 2020. With 18 nationalities among our 40+ employees, we’re proud to have such a diverse and international team and that’s something we’re excited to build on in the future. We aim to double our employee count by the end of 2020, since the start of the year we have already had eight new people join the team.

  • Market and sales expansion

Another key focus of ours this year is market expansion, both in terms of offices and working with clients to launch our platform in new markets. During 2019, we launched a development office in Kiev, whilst we launched our platform in several markets including the Nordics, with the UK next in line. We are also in the process of setting up new sales offices in other European countries, more of that later!

  • Expanding our product offering

We are currently focussed on expanding our network of connected banks, which is at 1,700 and counting. Over the course of this year, our goal is to maximise our coverage across Europe, and maybe a little bit further afield. On top of this, we will be adding new features to our platform that will enable our clients to leverage the full opportunities that PSD2 can bring. Keep an eye out for new markets and features over the coming months

Looking back on how far we have come since our founding, we wanted to take this trip as an opportunity to appreciate everyone who has put in a lot of hard work to get Neonomics to the place it is today.
