Staking is one of the ways to actively participate in the blockchain network. Staking Proton XPR in Proton Wallet is also the fastest and easiest way to earn a stable return on cryptocurrencies like Proton.
1. Download Proton Wallet

2. Deposit or buy XPR
After downloading Proton Wallet, buy XPR from the exchange or transfer the XPR you have to your wallet. Alternatively, other tokens can be converted to XPR using the Swap function of Proton Wallet.
3. Staking
You can see the Proton XPR in the list of holdings on the home screen of Proton Wallet.
Click on Proton XPR.
The asset status is displayed as shown below, and you can proceed with staking through Add Stake at the bottom of the Available Balance.
Currently, Proton has two staking options and you can choose either long staking or short staking.
In this guide, we will show you how to proceed with short staking.
Step 1: Use the slider to select the amount of XPR you want to stake, then click NEXT.
Step 2: For short staking, you need to select 4 block producers to vote for.
Select 4 block producers and click Finish.
Now, when you return to the token home screen, you can see your available balance and total staking XPR history.
4. Claim compensation
As a result of short staking and voting via Proton XPR, you can now claim daily rewards according to variable APR.
The APR variable depends on how many Proton XPRs are staked in the network. You can change your staking by clicking Update Stake.
For short staking, you can claim your reward once per day by opening the short staking panel and pressing Claim Now.
Staking rewards can only be claimed once every 24 hours. Also, you have to wait 24 hours after staking for the first time for the rewards to be paid out. Please note that the screen is output as not yet rewarded as shown below.
