Neeta Timsina, The Co-founder and COO at Eydean, Inc.

Neeta Timsina, the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer at Eydean Inc, is a perfect example of “You become what you dare to become.”

Neeta completed her high school at NIST College and her bachelor’s in Networking from Islington College, London Metropolitan University. In her final year in college, Neeta worked as a network engineer in Dristi Tech, where she learned a lot about software development. Furthermore, she got to know how a tech company functions and how effective communication and coordination results in better performance. All these learning later helped her establish her own company, Eydean Inc. In addition to being an incredible tech enthusiast, Neeta loves poetry. She enjoys writing blogs and reading philosophical books that portray a strong female character.

“Technology is a new paradigm, and I could see how I could pursue my passion if I followed the right trajectory. Having friends who contributed to open source projects back then also influenced me.”

Before Neeta graduated, she had set her mind to shift her domain in programming and run a startup with her friends after her college internship. Neeta was just 19 when she, along with her friends, started Eydean, which focuses on making business interpretation, analytics, and software development tools. Her role is to handle the operation, develop software, and handle all other work that comes in the way.

“The initial phase was overwhelming. The fear of ruining demos in front of clients, fear of asking questions, and all sorts of other worries would always be there. I would spend extra hours to make sure that things would go as planned and my reputation would go right.”

Neeta says that if she had not met her co-founder early on, she would either be working on her other ideas or working at another company but would always take steps towards making a positive impact around her. Neeta’s accomplishments have a lot to do with her hard work, dedication, and passion for creating an impact.

“Fortune does favor the bold, and you’ll never know what you’re capable of if you don’t try.”- Sheryl Sandberg

“Struggles? It’s always there no matter which field you choose. What inspires me the most to keep pursuing tech is the fact that it is hard. It is hard, but it is also doable. The world is introducing huge technologies, and people are handling big tech companies regardless of their gender. Question yourself if you feel that you can’t do it. Let’s not get fooled by societal gender stereotypes. Tech is the revolution.”

Neeta believes that the best thing about this field is that as long as we know how to do the job and understand that we are equally capable as our other peers, other things don’t matter. She loves how this career promotes an independent lifestyle, that if we commit to it, we can work from anywhere and anytime. There are dozens of perks of having female colleagues, but there are only a few you can connect with intellectually, given a minor percentage of women in the field.

“Chances are, you might stumble upon a misogynist colleague, and yet you have to work together to achieve your common goal. Having a mutual feeling of genuinely helping colleagues without condescending maintains gratitude for each other and promotes productivity. That is the kind of safe environment that every company requires.”

Neeta shared a recent incident that depicts how gender bias in tech exists today. She and her two female developers went to the client with a system proposal, and everything went perfectly well. However, clients constantly asked questions like “Is there anyone yet to come?”, expecting to see a male figure with them.

“It showed that they were presuming that we can’t be on our own and someone should be there to back us up. This is one dark side of the tech world. We have to repeatedly prove that we are in this position because we can do things that our male peers can. Since I am here, you gotta trust me with my work.”

A young tech founder has a lot to teach us. She encountered fear, biases, challenges and yet boldly moved forward towards her dream, dealing with life obstacles like fixing the code bugs. Bugs are always there, but they go away with a persistent effort to fix it. This is just a starting point of her long journey. May she succeed in all her upcoming endeavors.

“Teach every kid to dream; it will make their life a lot better and meaningful. Always remember to be bold, follow your passion, and don’t worry about other people’s opinions. And most importantly, say yes to your challenges with a positive attitude.”
