Connecting scientific fields and discovering interesting applications
Languages are powerful because they make our minds more structured and provide us the skills of organizing ideas and making connections between them by the use of analogy, metaphors, and grammatical accords.
Scientists and mathematicians used to not care about linguistic science but this era of connected people and knowledge makes this behavior not relevant anymore. Made the experience yesterdays listening to a math talk where just a word of the speaker allowed me to connect his work with another mathematical field outside his field of interest. I thought that this was an interesting idea to apply to his work in this algorithm that deals with this keyword. I was right because after some search I discovered that there is one study that tried to achieve the idea I had. What I have learned and expect that you also will is that there is a new kind of scientist. This kind of scientist can be called connector scientist, meaning scientist that has no particular field of focus but highly able to follow the works of many of their peers that are focused and try to connect their works. These connector scientists are those who close the gap between fields and are more likely to find interesting fields of applications of theoretical ideas. Connections are at the core of the evolution we have made in sciences because you may already know how this event impacted the development of science.
With just a single word “graph” and a beautiful graph presented, My mind was able to connect the dots and find an interesting practical idea for this theory. This world mainly the scientific one needs more connectors, people like you with a wide field of interest and creativity that help them close the gap and connect many theories that seem disjoint while they have a key shared base and great applications when compounded.
Saw very interesting ideas about all these mathematical plots I had years from know and working on them will likely lead to breakthrough new theories and application but I don't know if I will have enough time for math and for Book Dojo.
