The Metaverse is a land of its own. To put it in simple terms, it is a virtual realm that was initially considered a thing of fiction. Now that fictional world has become a part of reality. The metaverse was a creation that integrated several things that users enjoy such as; Social networking, gaming, and cryptocurrency to give them an enjoyable experience from the comfort of their homes.

Gaming in the metaverse is a surreal experience, given that you can see the entire scene or event happening right in front. Not from a screen but in real life, yet not so real because the advent of the Metaverse requires using a VR headset. As this became popular, several gaming companies started to invest in this window of opportunity, so with that being said, let’s go through the top 7 Metaverse games of 2022.

Decentraland

Decentraland is literally what the name says it is ‘Decentral Land.’ However, this virtual platform is built with blockchain technology, and the fungible ERC-20 token used for purchases is MANA. The game revolutionized many things; for one, it made virtual real estate a big deal which is not easy. One of the most incredible things this gaming platform introduced was that the value in the game could be made tangible in the real world.

In brief, this platform is for people who are into real estate and property handling.

MCL(Meta Cricket League)

In the world of sports, nothing gets an Indian more excited than a good game of cricket. This is one game where countless people would spend hours watching even if they were busy. So jump.trade took this sport that we so dearly love and made it a game that, instead of being time-consuming, can now also be an opportunity for financial growth. With the introduction of Jump.trades Meta Cricket League(MCL) anyone can invest in NFTs that act as virtual assets and playable characters.

Jump. Trade, one of the largest NFT gaming marketplaces, managed to sell over 55,000 MCL NFTs in less than 9 minutes. That goes on to show how significant of an impact it made on the general public.

Sandbox

This game is the equivalent of an open-world game with minimal restrictions. The Sandbox is a virtual world where one can own land in the form of NFTs, allowing users to customize and create their games and structures on the ground they purchase. Given that this game is on the Ethereum blockchain, it uses a fungible ERC-20 token called SAND to make purchases.

With all that said, the beauty of this game is that it is pretty interactive and has an NFT marketplace where you can sell or buy land and several skins and items as well.

Axie Infinity

Ever heard of the game dragon city? This is quite similar to that. In Axie infinity, you collect characters who are these cute little monsters and can grow them and make them fight battles. While this is quite common, the twist comes in when all these little monsters are NFTs. This game is also a P2E game where, as one plays, they constantly make a financial contribution to themselves, possibly raising the value of their NFT.
NFT P2E games are something that has quite recently started to make waves in the gaming world. This game combines cuteness and financial gains, which you don’t see often.

Alien worlds

A game that puts you in a being that has not yet been proven to exist. Yes, Alien worlds allow users to explore distant lands and mine NFTs. Seem simple enough, but there’s more. There are over 300 NFTs that can be mined, and each differs based on rarity and shininess. This game puts you in the shoes of an alien who can invade other lands while also being a being that helps you mine virtual assets.
In this game, you can buy land and mine. If given the opportunity, you can invade or attack other lands. If you do not own the land you are mining on, then a fraction of what is mined is given to the land owner.

Sorare

This game is for those gaming enthusiasts who are into sports games like FIFA. The game makes you purchase characters and build your team. The game is on the Ethereum blockchain, meaning the characters are NFTs, and depending on their rarity, their value might go up or be low in price. This game allows you to form a team based on select factors.

So in simpler terms, it’s a sports game that allows you to purchase characters or players that are NFTs which can then be traded, bought, or sold on the NFT marketplace.

Second life

The game is exactly as the name suggests. The game allows you to create an Avatar of your creation and has no restrictions on what you want to be. Apart from this, unlike many games, the core objective of this game is to increase sociability through virtual means. If it were put in simpler terms, this game is the metaverse alternative to Sims.

Who wouldn’t like to be something different after all? While this game has been there for quite some time, it is continuously growing and has already crossed over 15 million users. So it seems like it’s worth taking a look at.

Conclusion

So there you have it, the “Top 7 metaverse games of 2022” while there are many more games, these are far beyond their time. While the others have similar functionalities, they are not on par with the ones mentioned above but with the constant evolution, who knows?
