In the last few years, there have been a lot of talks and noise on Hybrid Cloud. Many organizations and cloud providers have been investing and shifting their focus to a Hybrid Cloud. In a sudden hype, the market share of hybrid cloud has taken a steep ‘up’ in the last few years. In this article, let us see a few prime reasons why “Hybrid Cloud” has become a favourite option of many large-scale and data-centric organizations.

  • Data Security

Although the cloud boasts about security, it is vulnerable to attacks. This is where the Hybrid Cloud gets highlighted. Organizations often have sensitive data that needs to be secured and stored at a fixed location. Cloud stores at a geographical location which the company cannot predict exactly or its security. Moreover, the public cloud is a shared space by the public — Both individuals and organizations. Hence organizations would want data and their related operations to be on their private cloud / on-prem infrastructure and the rest of the operations on the public cloud.

  • Costs

Now someone might ask, then why not completely shift to on-prem? That would create higher costs and maintenance responsibilities for the organization. Moreover, scaling up and down will require larger hardware since that is what the end users will interact with. A large user base will technically create more maintenance overhead for the organization. Hence there was a balance — Sensitive data and operations on the Private cloud / on-prem and the rest of the application on the Public Cloud.

  • Fine Tuning

Although the cloud allows you to change the setting of what you make, it’s not at that granular level. When setting up private cloud / on-prem infrastructure, a lot of fine-tuning can be done to meet the requirements of your organization since we own the hardware.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, Hybrid Cloud is the best of both worlds. It offers the safety and security of a private/on-prem system and at the same time provides the scalability and cost savings of a public cloud.
