Why is the 🍎 Ecosystem called ‘Legendary’?

The Apple Ecosystem

First, let’s address the elephant in the room. What is an ecosystem?

An ecosystem is a community of interacting electronic devices. It basically means that a particular set of devices are able to interact with each other using proprietary software.

Apple makes many different products, which include the iPhone, iPad, iMac, the Macbook, Apple Watch, Apple TV, AirPods, Homepods, and much more.

But what makes these products great is the software Apple has built in them.

Airdrop: It is a software which ‘wirelessly’ helps you send full resolution documents, photos, videos, websites, map locations, and more with no size limitation to a nearby device that belongs to the Apple Ecosystem.

Airplay: It allows wireless streaming of audio, video, device screens, and photos between devices among the Apple Ecosystem.

Continuity: It is a feature that allows the users to make phone calls, send text messages, handoff files, copy and paste, and automatically unlock Mac using the devices belonging to the Apple Ecosystem.

iCloud: This is a service built into every Apple device. That means all the photos, files, notes and more is safe, up to date, and available wherever you are in your device which belongs to the Apple Ecosystem.

Clipboard: This is pretty common in every phone and laptop of today’s age. But what separates other’s experience from Apple Ecosystem’s devices is that a text in your clipboard on an iPhone can be transferred to the Macbook with much ease as compared to Windows/Android.

All the Apple devices !!!

We get an idea of how convenient the experience is, if you are a part of this Ecosystem.

These handy features and software which Apple has built for their own users, work in the best way possible only for the people who have adopted all of their devices.

If an Apple iPhone user wants to buy a pair of earphones, the user would prefer to buy Apple Airpods over any other product just because of the extra features and functionality he would experience. And this goes for all the different Apple accessories.

Centralization !!

It helps in just going to one manufacturer for all your technical needs. If anyone of your devices has some problem/defect, it’s a very convenient and smooth experience for the user. A One-Stop-Shop for all needs!

That is how you build a trillion-dollar company ☝🏼

So why haven’t other companies adopted this methodology of trying to keep all their customers in their own Ecosystem?

Many companies have tried to make an ecosystem of their own, and FAILED!

For example, Let’s take Samsung.

Even if you own a Samsung phone, a Samsung Tab, Samsung Watch, Samsung laptop, Samsung airbuds, the experience will not be comparable to Apple’s because Samsung will have to use Android, Tizen and Windows. (3 totally different Operating Systems which are incompatible with each other).

The Reason is the plethora of Android phones launched Each Year!!

There is only a single version of an app to be made for an iPhone, hence quality is maintained, while many different ones have to be made for Android as there 1000s of different Android devices made every year, due to which App development for Apple becomes far easier as compared to Android. Hence, many applications have better functionality for iOS rather than Android.

Long list of Android phones launched this year

Well, let’s leave the battle of Android vs iOS for some other day!

Android vs iOS

So the conclusion for today’s blog is.

Once you are part of the Apple’s ecosystem, you are tempted to buy more Apple products for savoring the software features this ecosystem has to offer.
