Why Does Everyone Support An Abusive Harley & Joker Relationship?

Since the release of Suicide Squad, many fans have taken to social media to complain about the way the Joker & Harley’s relationship has been showcased. Look, i am not saying this because i’m a woman and before you get your fingers ready to point ‘FEMINAZI’ take a moment to think that the way the relationship was portrayed on screen was a good way to show that people who are the same belong together.

Now, the way it was portrayed in the Animated Series and other media was that it was abusive and that Joker used her to his advantage, and that’s okay, that’s how it’s supposed to be. But changing it up, isn’t that bad. It’s a way to give a bit of humanity to the Joker.

The Joker is this crazy, maniacal and egotistic criminal and in the Suicide Squad film you can see he actually is affected by the fact that Harley’s locked up and whatnot (although him escaping and leaving Harley to Batman is another matter). While in the extended cut it is clear that the Joker is more abusive to Harley, but in the theatrical cut, that wasn’t really shown and because of it, some fans do insult the ones who support it because it’s not ‘their Harley and Joker’.

Fact of the matter is, that new versions are welcome. Did the film deviate from both of their characters too much? Of course not. It’s not that i want to bring down those who love the earlier versions, but it’s something that i believe in. Anyways, that was my rant (not really).

Share your thoughts, down below, folks.
