The Nervos CKB Testnet Rylai Mining Competition, which began on June 15th 2019 at 06:00 UTC, ended with the launch of our Mainnet Lina.

There were a total of 5 Competition Rounds, each with a high level of community participation. Due to the hashrate during the competition reaching 20 TH/s, we were able to find and repair bugs discoverable only at times of extreme hashrate fluctuation.

Mining competition rewards

Reward information is available at mineyourownbusiness.nervos.org.

The mainnet addresses and rewards recipients for all rounds of the CKB testnet mining competition have been announced. There are two ways to view the winners:

  1. Index into mainnet.toml via lock_args
  2. Mainnet addresses and rewards will be listed on the Nervos CKB Mainnet Token List. Users can check the list directly. (Use the last three digits and Contrl + F to look up)

Reward Rules

  • The final result will count all the main chain blocks during the competition period. Our consensus design uses a two-step confirmation, thus block rewards will have several blocks’ delay. We will count all the main chain blocks’ reward, no need to consider the delay.
  • In CKB, the block reward contains four parts. To guarantee the fairness, only base reward will be calculated during the competition. In our consensus design, there are four parts of block reward: base reward, secondary rewards, commit rewards and proposal rewards. As secondary rewards are related to state occupation, and commit and proposal rewards are related to transaction, those rewards could be manipulated. Thus transactions, secondary rewards, commit rewards and proposal rewards will not be counted in competition. ONLY base rewards will be counted. For more detail you can check our consensus RFC.
  • Due to uncertainties during our testnet, the final result will be calculated according to the proportion of base rewards each address mined. For example, during the competition, if there are a total of 10M tokens as a base reward — Alice’s address receives 1M tokens and can aso receive 1/10 of the total mainnet token rewards.
  • Now that mainnet has launched, CKB token rewards will be sent to the corresponding address in the genesis block with no lockup. Addresses for the same private key might be different on testnet and on mainnet due to a difference in algorithm. Participants only need to hold on to their private key to be able to claim rewards, so please keep it safe. With the launch of Mainnet Lina, you can now import your private key to the CKB wallet and claim the rewards. For details, please refer to How to Get CKB Mainnet Token using ckb-cli (for Testnet Mining competition winners).

Verifying the data

In order to facilitate the verification of the published reward data, we provide the download address of the backup data of previous nodes with data’s sha256 checksum and genesis block’s distribution data. The validation period is 60 days from Nov.17 2019 UTC to Jan 16th 2020 UTC. Please contact us at media@nervos.org if you have any questions during this period. We will respond to you as soon as possible.

Steps
1. Download the CKB version used for testnet mining competition from the Github Release

2. Download the backup dataPut the backup data into the CKB version’s database

3. Check the backup data according to the rules of the mining competition

4. Cross-check with the Genesis block’s distribution data

In Summary

Now that mainnet has launched, testnet mining competition rewards will be distributed via genesis block.

  • CKB mainnet token rewards will be sent to the corresponding mainnet address. Please keep your privkey safe to receive the rewards.
  • Addresses for the same private key might be different on testnet and on mainnet due to a difference in algorithm. Participants only need to hold on to their private key to be able to claim rewards.
  • Participation in this event means that you have read and understood the competition terms.

Your mining participation has made, and will continue to make, Nervos better. We can’t thank everyone enough for making Lina possible.
