Nervos Testnet is Live!

Meet Rylai :)

After 15 months of sprints and hard work on the part of our core developers and all of the other contributors to the Nervos Common Knowledge Base, the Nervos CKB Testnet, named Rylai, is live!

The Rylai testnet will be rolled out in phases, with today’s release focusing on consensus, peer-to-peer networking and CKB-VM. The first phase also includes a preliminary implementation of NervosDAO and a basic smart contract programming model where developers can try to build and run CKB scripts.

The entirety of the design of the CKB has been finalized, and the design details have been honed and refined. After over 30 iterations of Rylai, we are finally ready for our first testnet release!

This testnet represents a significant accomplishment for everyone working on Nervos Network as well as our supporters around the world. It is a key step forward on the path toward Nervos Network’s ultimate goal of enabling a true decentralized economy.

Everyone is welcome to try to mine and send transactions on the CKB, we encourage as many community members as possible to begin running nodes and mining to get as many eyes on bugs as possible. We will improve the programming model based on the feedback received to make the CKB more developer-friendly.

A note to Rylai users: because this is a testnet, its data will be reset and any coins mined have no value.

Nervos CKB is under very active development and we need your help to improve this code and take it to a production-ready state. It is likely that significant changes will be made to existing functionality and modules. Please refer to our Github repos for the most up-to-date information.
