We are very excited to release our first official development roadmap for the Nervos Network. If you haven’t already, we highly recommend that you read the technical whitepaper of the Nervos CKB as it provides a lot of context for the roadmap.

Here is an overview of our development roadmap for Nervos Network including the progress our team has made to date.

Development Roadmap

Q1 2018

Q2 2018

  • Finished development on the first Nervos CKB proof of concept
  • This included an alpha blockchain with a multi-node system, synchronization scheme between nodes, and cell mining and transferring.
  • Completed & announced our pre-sale funding

Q3 2018

Q4 2018

  • Releasing the Nervos CKB Consensus Paper
  • Releasing the Nervos CKB Virtual Machine RFC
  • Releasing the Nervos Token Economics Whitepaper
  • Open-sourcing the Nervos CKB
  • Creating Nervos Request For Comments (RFC) process

Q1 2019

  • Releasing the Nervos CKB Testnet
  • Releasing Nervos AppChain (Beta version)
  • Releasing dApp wallet: Neuron (Beta version)
  • Releasing blockchain explorer: Microscope (Beta version)

Q2/Q3 2019

  • Nervos CKB Mainnet Launch
  • Token Generation Event

Building a Multi-layered Architecture

To share a little more context on how everything comes together to build the Nervos Network, here is a short description on the main components of the network.

Nervos Common Knowledge Base (CKB)

Nervos CKB is the foundation of the Nervos Network. The CKB is the common knowledge layer that provides consensus, security, and storage for all decentralized applications.

Generation Layer

On top of the CKB is the generation layer for state generation and layer 2 solutions. Nervos CKB is designed to work with layer 2 solutions, and we are building our own solution called the Nervos AppChain as the first layer 2 solution working on top of the CKB.

Nervos Wallet (Neuron)

Our wallet, named Neuron, is built with decentralized applications (dApps) in mind. Because of the layered architecture of Nervos, the end-user devices themselves will also be able to do the computational state-generation on device and interact with the Nervos CKB.

Nervos Block Explorer (Microscope)

Our block explorer, named Microscope, allows users to view transactions across all layers of the Nervos Network.

More to Come…

For more detail and updates we highly recommend checking out the Nervos Network Github (Nervos CKB will be open-sourced in Q4 this year). Be sure to follow our other channels as well to keep updated on our progress.
