Phase 1 CKB Mining Competition Now Finished
Get Ready for Round 2!
A Big thanks to everyone who participated in the CKB Mining Competition Phase 1. We saw 21,737 mining addresses created during the two weeks, and the hash rate hit a whopping 3.5M gps.
The hash rate stayed above 1M gps for most of the event and was highly competitive! For reference, the previous testnet’s hash rate was about 50,000 gps (20x less) and a regular macbook has a hash rate of 150 gps (graph per second).
The chain has been cleared and reset to CKB v0.15, you can now download and play with it.
The Next mining competition will begin on July 13th 6:00 AM (GMT+00). In this second round, the rewards have increased to 4,000,000 CKB tokens!
We have now released the RFC (request for comment) for this second round of the CKB Mining competition. Please read below for more info and how to get involved!

Mining Competition Phase 2 RFC (Request for Comments)
The intention of the mining competition is to test the stability and the impact of hashrate fluctuation on the consensus.
If you have any recommendations on how we could better reach the goal, please reply on the Nervos forum here. This RFC will open from July 1st to July 10th, and we will consider incorporating all suggestions into the official competition rules. These finalized rules will be released on July 13th before the competition begins.
Mining Competition Phase 2 (4M CKB Reward Pool)
Reward One: Mining Whales (2,400,000 CKB in total)
Block rewards produced by each address will be ranked. Upon the completion of competition, top three addresses that mined the most block rewards will get rewarded.
- First place: 1,200,000 CKB Tokens
- Second place: 800,000 CKB Tokens
- Third place: 400,000 CKB Tokens
The top three rewards will be ranked according to the total block rewards obtained by the address.
Reward Two: Lucky Block (up to 80 winners)
At the end of competition, each address that received block rewards at block height of 1,000 and multiples of 1,000 (Mining Whale winner addresses excluded) will be given 20,000 CKB tokens as rewards.
Rewards are based on data from CKB explorer, so uncle blocks will not be included.
