Coronavirus has been the main subject in every discussion for the past year and our topic is not unrelated to the virus either. I’m going to speak about an unpleasant issue that we have been dealing with for decades now. Yes, you are right, I’m talking about our mortal enemy; the air pollution!

As you might know, short-term exposure to air pollution can disturb the eyes, nose, and throat and cause upper respiratory infections, headaches, nausea, and allergic reactions. Long-term exposures can lead to chronic respiratory disease, lung cancer, and heart disease.

Lately, scientific researchers have announced that air pollution also has a significant impact on the rate of transmission and exacerbation of COVID-19. That’s why our team decided to show the air pollution level in different areas of Iranian cities in Neshan.

There are some air quality monitoring stations in each city that determine the level of pollution and the status of pollutants in that area.

You can decide and plan your day according to the status of the indicator of the closest station to your neighborhood or the destination you want to go to.

This may not have much effect on the people that have to show up to their workplaces, but at least it lets them get prepared for the situation.

Sensitive groups can benefit from this feature a lot. These groups include people with heart or lung disease, older adults, children, and teenagers.

By using this feature you can look after your loved ones, even by closing a window, changing your schedule, or buying an air purifier. We have prepared the necessary instructions for you according to the level of contamination. Similarly, if there is a specific pollutant that is more dangerous to your body than the others, you can be aware of its level in the air.

And in that way, you can always be one step ahead of air pollution!

AQI, or Air Quality Index, is a scale to show the level of air pollution that can go from 0 to 500. As the number goes higher, it makes it riskier for our health.

The AQI is divided into six categories and each category corresponds to a different level of health concern and it is as follows:

0 to 50: Green, Good

Air quality is satisfactory, and air pollution poses little or no harm.

51 to 100: Yellow, Moderate

Air quality is acceptable. However, there may be a risk for some people, particularly those who are unusually sensitive to air pollution.

101 to 150: Orange, Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups

Members of sensitive groups may experience health effects. The general public is less likely to be affected.

151 to 200: Red, Unhealthy

Some members of the general public may experience health effects: members of sensitive groups may experience more serious health effects.

201 to 250: Purple, Very Unhealthy

Health alert: The risk of health effects is increased for everyone.

251 to 300: Maroon, Hazardous

Health warning of emergency conditions: everyone is more likely to be affected.
