Nest Collective Summer Internship ’20
Be part of a team of junior designers and software developers, mentored by experienced professionals, working on a real world project for ~2 months. This is our challenge for the Nest Collective Summer Internship 2020 and, on this 5th edition, we’ll be remote friendly. 👩💻🌍👨💻

The Internship
Team: We will select a team of 3 to 5 interns, composed by software developers and designers, to build a working software application to be used in the real world.
Mentors: Throughout the internship you’ll keep in touch with and receive close mentorship from them on different domains and technologies.Our mentors work in several of our companies — RedLight, Deemaze, Grama, Pink Room, Broadcom, Versátil Contexto, Goodbarber, Fidizzi, Psand, Sursumcorda and FAmazing. 👩🏫👩🎤👨🏫
Idea: The idea is secret and will only be shared during the internship. 🤫
Duration: ~2 months
Timeline: 1 July - 4 September (we may have to adjust the dates, but don’t worry! We’ll always take your availability into consideration if you’re selected).
Agenda: Our agenda may need to change due to things that go beyond our control and with the safety of all in mind. 😷 But here’s the line-up we’re preparing for your summer with us:
- Kick-off. 🚀 An introduction, it’s your first contact with the people you’ll be working directly with, the rest of your team and our community. We’ll show you around, get you settled on your workspace and ensure you will be comfortable to work with us during the Summer.
- Training. 🎓 We’ve prepared a set of training activities that will help you get prepared for the coming weeks. Each training will be lectured by some of our experts on that domain. You’ll see them a lot throughout the summer, so get to know them and take the best you can out of that!
- Requirements specification. 🐣 During this initial period you’ll research, think and debate the problem in order to define a solution that you’ll develop during the following weeks. Requirements will be refined later on, but here you need to set the scope of the MVP.
- Project Development. 🔥 You’re left with ~1.5 months that will be filled with knowledge and breakthroughs. You’ll have the full experience of working in software development with your own team. And, of course, each week ends with a showcase, in which you share the progress made throughout the week with everyone.
- Final Presentation = A Party! 🍹🎉 By the end of the summer your project will be prepared to be launched and used in the real world. This calls for a celebration! 🍻

What we would like you to learn
We are eager to challenge you to work in all phases of developing a digital project, including:
- Conception and prototyping of the idea
- Interviews with end users and other stakeholders
- Setup of a software project
- Design user interface and define user experience through low and high fidelity mockups
- Web and mobile development following state of the art best practices
- Code review, quality assurance and software testing
