Hey there everyone!

My name is Leonardo Vieira and I’m one of Nest Collective interns this summer! πŸ’»

Last wednesday, 8th of August, we (as well as some of our mentors) had a ball in an amazing road trip and networking experience in Braga!

Interns Team going to Braga

It all started with a call between Nest Collective and our friends at @Subvisual! Both of them thought it would be really cool if we went in a road trip to Braga and get some insights about their work environment, routines and most importantly, their Summer Camp. As you might expect, they gladly said yes to this invitation as Nest can’t miss a chance to learn, socialize and have fun! πŸŽ‰

The trip started in the morning, around 11 o’clock. A well thought-out hour so we could arrive in Braga just in time for lunch. Waiting for us along with the Subvisual guys, was the Taberna Belga restaurante almighty francesinha. We had never tasted it before, but we will surely want to taste it again some time!

Cheers 🍺 @ Taberna Belga

After lunch there was no time for the much wanted power nap, as we went directly to Subvisual. We were astonished when confronted with a modern yet cozy and hygge office. From the lighting, to the desks and general environment, ending in fully writable walls. It is awesome. ✨

Shortly after we went to this meeting room where both intern teams did a brief introduction to the company / collective they were intershiping with and presented their internship problem, as well as their approach to solve it.

Networking @Subvisual

We easily noticed some similarities and differences between this two internships. Both try to tackle office problems (management, logistics, sharing info, personal relations) at some extent, but in quite different ways. One of the main differences relies on the structure of the internship. We did a one week of training followed by a one week design sprint and by a six week developing phase. Subvisual did it a lot differently, basing the Summer Camp on observation, contextual inquiry and data interpretation, all elements of contextual design.

After these presentations we were taken around the office to get to know it better and had a little chat about many topics related to tech scene in Braga! From the university to events in braga and the tech companies emerging in the city!

Then we went to the city center and did some tourism in the time we had left. We visited GNRation and walked through the city downtown. As we were preparing to leave, we had the phenomenal idea of trying to take pictures with other people dogs and see who could get the most number of photos. We had a lot of fun! 🐢

Dogs.

So what do you guys think of our road trip? We surely loved it!

For now, that’s all. Stay tuned to our next post!

Ciau! πŸ‘‹
