NestEgg’s Plans for 2019
☀️ For those meeting us for the first time, NestEgg envisions individuals investing to reduce their cost of living. We aim to achieve this by enabling people to crowdfund sustainable infrastructure in their country and own part of the production for doing so.
For example: crowdfunding solar panels and owning a percentage of the kWh it creates, directly deducted from your energy bill each month.

We’re pursuing a strategy to get to market as soon as possible and iterate the experience over time:
- Pre-Launch: gather feedback on dashboard via demo, work out the kinks
- MVP: aggregate and sell crowdfunds already being hosted by various companies yet monitor all shares through one dashboard.
- Disrupt: launch our own crowdfunds, using smart contracts & IoT devices to transparently distribute kWh credits to crowdfunders in real-time. (we’re about to pilot this longer-term tech at a location in Droomgaard)
Pre-Launch: The NestEgg Simulation
We’ve recently been running a simulation for anyone to try our dashboard before launch. You can:
- set your monthly kWh needs
- browse available crowdfunds of solar panels and windmills
- watch your sustainability bar jump as your panels & windmills begin producing electricity (kWh).
With this simulation, we’ve been collecting quite a large amount of feedback after gamifying the submission process. With this feedback, we’ve been iterating our platform to make the user experience more smooth and communicate information that the participant expects.

MVP: The Booking.com of kWh
We want to launch crowdfunding your basic needs as soon as possible. To achieve this MVP solution, we’re currently negotiating with companies in the Netherlands that already offer this compliantly. We’ll be launching these initiatives in the near future.
Our initial MVP launch will allow you to crowdfund green energy infrastructrue being deployed across the Netherlands from partners that join our platform. Sort of like booking.com checking available flights and hotels from a variety of different companies to deliver the experience you need.
Crowdfunds that you join through NestEgg will later be added to your dashboard to monitor the aggregate kWh your shares produce and knock off your energy bill.

Disrupt: the horizon is in development
The longer term vision of NestEgg is for this sort of capability: investing in infrastructure across your country to receive the perks–to be a protocol available to everyone. This is only possible if there is radically higher transparency and automation throughout the administration.
To accomplish this, we’ve been developing smart contracts, working with solar IoT suppliers, and have made our dashboard compatible with metamask (ethereum) for an earlier experiment.
Additionally, we teamed up with local organizations in Limburg to participate in a non-profit installation of panels at a nearby community garden. On this installation, we’ll be installing IoT sensors to track and eventually tokenize the excess energy produced. These live installations will help us create automated distribution using smart contracts in the future, enabling the rules and money-trail to be accountable and trustless.
