Durgadi Bridge of Kalyan will be Built in Next 7 Months: MMRDA

The construction of a bridge on the Durgadi creek was commenced two and a half years ago, however, due to land acquisition problems, construction work was delayed, but now MMRDA has assured that the construction work of the bridge will be completed in the next 7 months.

“In the last two and a half years MMRDA has built just 4 pillars, then how can the entire six-lane bridge be built in 7 months,” questioned Shivsena Kalyan City Deputy Chief Ravi Patil.

The Durgadi bridge will be useful to solve the existing traffic problem in Kalyan, as the traffic rushing from Kalyan towards Thane, Mumbai can be cleared out through the Durgadi bridge.

MMRDA has commenced the work of construction of the bridge on 11th March 2016 and the work was expected to be completed by 10th March 2018.

Patil had sent a letter to the MMRDA department that if the construction work of the bridge won’t commence by 1st October, then legal petitions will be filed against the contractor and the department.

While replying to the letter of Patil, MMRDA assured that the construction of the Durgadi bridge will be completed in next 7 months.
