If Plastic Ban Violated, Licenses of the Shops to be Cancelled: Ramdas Kadam
The Maharashtra government has decided to cancel the licenses of those shops which found in violations of the plastic ban,
“We have succeeded up to 60 per cent in imposing plastic ban across the state. Now we want to make it more stringent by cancelling the license of shops if they are found in possession of banned plastic material.”

Written instructions will soon be issued to all the local bodies and other authorities about cancelling the licenses of shops if found guilty in violating the plastic ban, he added.
Environment department officials said that around 290-tonne plastic have been seized from across the state since the plastic ban from June 23 and even a fine of Rs 2.53 crore has been collected till now.
On March 23, the state government imposed a ban on manufacturing, use, sale, distribution, and storage of plastic materials such as one-time-use bags, spoons, plates, PET and PETE bottles, and thermocol items. The ban was properly implemented from June 23.
The Environment Minister has even directed the Police officials to seize the trucks coming from Gujarat loaded with plastic.
Environment department had permitted the use of plastic for the distribution of goods through e-commerce and the deadline has even ended for the e-commerce sector as well, it has directed the sector to opt for alternatives.
The Environment Minister has also directed the authorities to keep a watch on the tourist and pilgrim places, as the use of plastic carry bag at such places is high.
The environment department had already completely banned the use of thermocol products during the Ganesh festival, if one is found violating the ban during the Navratri, Dussehra, Diwali festivals, strict action will be taken against them.
The Union government was also impressed by the success achieved by the state in banning plastic and had sent a team to Mumbai to explore the possibility of carrying out this ban on a wider scale, asserted the Environment Minister.
