Step by Step : Install NPM in 2 steps

You know, developers are lazy right? and we love to reuse code that is already been written and tested :p

A couple of years ago, in order to reuse code of someone, the developer should send it to you via mail. Then you will download that file and implement or integrate it in your app. But what happens when in the meantime the developer did some changes ? How will he make sure that you have the latest file with the latest bug fixes ?

That’s why you have NPM.

What is NPM?

NPM stands for Node Package Manager and is a package manager for Javascript. NPM makes it easy for JavaScript developers to share and reuse code, and it makes it easy to update the code that you’re sharing.

Step 1 : Open Terminal ( Linux )

Step 2 : sudo apt-get install npm

To verify if NPM is succesfully installed :

npm -version

Thank you for your time!

Step by step will be a series of technology topics that will help programmers ( beginners in particular ) understand these topics in tiny tiny steps.

If you have questions or suggestions please feel free to send me a message at

NPM website :

“My goal is to enlighten the path for programmers, and to share my knowledge with those that are seeking for help.”
