As a leader in the energy industry, Aramco has positioned itself as a torchbearer of innovation, pioneering strategies to promote sustainable global development.

The keystone in their digital arch is the Aramco Lab of Excellence, an incubator that empowers the innovators of today to deliver solutions for tomorrow. The Lab of Excellence isn’t just a space — it’s a dynamic ecosystem that fosters creativity, collaboration, and innovation.

Fostering Aramco’s ambitions to harness Artificial Intelligence, NeuralSpace spent three weeks at the Lab, leveraging our cutting-edge language AI to develop innovative solutions for Aramco’s major challenges. Take a behind the scenes look at the team’s experience and highlights from their trip.

“I was very glad to see the engagement quickly maturing from a short visionary discussion during an event in February, to a full site engagement from the NeuralSpace team in June,” said Mohammad Jalaly, Head of D&IT at Lab of Excellence. “The level of commitment we observed from both the management and technical teams, clearly speak of the great potential of this startup.”

On Language and Technology

“Our trip to Saudi Arabia was a truly unique experience. One thing that struck me was the similarity in language difficulties between Arabic and Indian languages. Just like Marathi and Hindi share the same script but are different languages, Arabic dialects also follow a common script but are distinct languages,” said Ayushman Dash, Co-Founder and CTO at NeuralSpace.

“However, what truly amazed me was the open-mindedness of the people towards embracing technology and their determination to drive their economy forward. It was evident that significant changes in technology and investments would occur in the coming years, with a key focus on Arabic languages in the tech industry as well.”

Culture

Adam Wood, Head of Solutions at NeuralSpace, shares his experience with the culture and the people.

“My trip to Saudi Arabia was a truly eye-opening experience. I was struck by the profound connection the locals had with their culture, which was both fascinating and humbling. The people I encountered were not only incredibly welcoming and friendly but also displayed a strong sense of pride in their heritage.”

“Their genuine warmth and sense of humor made our interactions truly delightful. What touched me the most was how complete strangers would greet me with a smile, displaying a kindness that went beyond any language barrier. It was a deeply heartwarming experience to receive such authentic hospitality from people who were unfamiliar with me.”

King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture — Ithra

Safa Trabelsi, Applied Linguist at NeuralSpace, adds to the cultural experience, about the team’s visit to the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture.

“One of the highlights of our trip was visiting the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, Ithra, a cultural hub that showcased the rich heritage of the region. It was particularly fascinating to learn that the center was built on Well 7, Saudi Arabia’s first oil well, making it a unique location.

I was amazed by the five-story library inside the center. It was a view of books more than I’ve ever seen anywhere. Another really interesting part was the section dedicated to replicas of famous mosques from around the world. Some of these replicas even offered virtual reality tours, allowing us to explore these architectural marvels in a whole new way.”

We’re grateful for the remarkable experience we shared and look forward for further collaboration with Aramco, and our other valued partners in the Kingdom.
