I Quit My Job in July 2024 to Go All in on Me
…and Failed
There’s something powerful about admitting failure. Not the inspirational kind that leads to a surprise twist ending where you actually succeeded beyond your wildest dreams. No, I’m talking about genuine, humbling, “well, that didn’t work out” failure.
So here it is: I quit my toxic job in July 2024 to go all in on my business, and I failed.
The Great Escape
Let’s start with the facts. My previous workplace was beyond toxic — the kind where you rehearse your resignation speech in the shower and fantasize about dramatic exits. Staying wasn’t an option for my mental health, and I had carefully saved enough to cover four months of living expenses. I had a business coach lined up (who, I should emphasize, showed up consistently and was absolutely not part of my failure). I had a plan.
What I didn’t have, as it turns out, was the ability to create a structure for my AudHD brain in a home environment.
When Your Brain Won’t Cooperate
This wasn’t my first rodeo with self-employment. I’d done it before with varying degrees of success. But this time was different, and I still can’t fully articulate why.
