ArabNet Beirut 2017
True to their purpose as the “the longest running digital event in the Levant“; ArabNet, and since 2009, is still improving its events to better address its goal of supporting digital business in the region.
Under the patronage of the president of the Lebanese Republic General Michel Aoun, the “ArabNet Beirut 2017” was held at Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand Hotel. The event started on 20th of February and lasted for three days.
The first day (20 February) was prior to main Forum and titled as “Prototype day”.
Workshops were scheduled for the whole day, and covered 3 topics: “Entrepreneurship”, “Product Development” & “Hardware Development”.
Speakers, coming from various regions and countries, shared their expertise in fully packed assembly halls.
The following 2 days (21 & 22 February) were dedicated for the Forum.
Topics were focused on “Business Transformation” and “Media”, within the common topic of “Entrepreneurship” running during these 2 days.
The two days of the Forum were active days and included showcase exhibition with the presence of stands for accelerators companies, innovators, technical supporting companies, banks and the important attendance and collaboration of the “Central Bank of Lebanon” which is providing enormous support to the thriving community of entrepreneurs and innovators in Lebanon.
The Forum included talks, presentations by international industry speakers, and the expected networking between the attendees.
During the 1st day of the Forum, there was another on-going event titled “Banking Innovation Day “. ArabNet opted to introduce this new event for the purpose of highlighting how digital technologies is transforming financial markets and banking, with the usual focus on the MENA region.
In addition to the information delivered by the speakers, The ArabNet team, in partnership with OMD, providing the attendees within vital reports on “Business Intelligence” covering interest topics:
- The state of Digital Investments in the MENA; period 2013–2015
- E-Commerce Insights and Best Practices; 2016
- Digital Banking Adoption in MENA; 2016
- Top App Trends Dominating Mena, in 2015
At the end of the 3rd day, the ArabNet’s traditional competitions took place, which included both “Startup Battle” and “Ideathon”.
Similarly, 10 entrepreneurs pitched their ideas in front of the judges. Winners were:
1st Place: E-Rush
2nd Place” Bubblicious
3rd Place: Friendly Car
Winners received cash prizes to help further support their business and take it to higher stages.
