Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of years, you surely heard about Tesla’s new SUV, the Model X.

First announced in February 2012, Model X was officially launched a few hours ago, with the first few customers getting their SUVs right on stage.

Elon Musk’s quest to rid the planet of fossil fuel is paramount, hence his fierce investment of time and knowledge in Tesla, Gigafactory, and Solar City.

What came as a pleasant shock though is his interest in actively keeping his customers healthy. You would think this would be a no-brainer (healthy and happy customers are return customers), but Volkswagen’s fiasco shows it really isn’t.

And he’s doing it through a rather simple method: By using a medical grade HEPA air filter that’s ten times bigger than the competition’s. This system has three modes: circulate with outside air, re-circulate inside air and a bioweapon defense mode that creates positive pressure inside the cabin to protect occupants.

Yes, you’ve read that right. A bioweapon defense mode. It even has its own button on the screen.

During the keynote, Elon Musk stated that using the bioweapon defense mode makes the air inside the Tesla X as clean as in a hospital operating room. This, coupled with Tesla’s already legendary safety standards makes the Model X probably the best family car to buy, period. If that doesn’t show how much Tesla cares about your health, I don’t know what does.

During the keynote I smiled a lot — and not only because I like the man and the brand — because it became obvious that finally innovative companies are genuinely starting to care about our health. And that helps us a lot in our mission to help people all around the world better understand, monitor, and manage their health.

So thank you Tesla for being an inspiration for all of us here at Neveli. And our future preferred method of transportation.

Neveli analyzes the data from your devices and helps you understand, monitor, and manage your health. We’re launching in a few weeks and we’d love to have you on board. Click here to sign-up early.
