Your tracker will save your life.
I recently came across an article that had the headline “How an Apple Watch might have saved a man’s life”. Before I even started reading I had a feeling that this will either be some sponsored content or some trivial article, only because it contains “might” in the title.
You see, words like “might”, “should”, or “could” don’t belong in the conversation when it comes to science, technology, and especially healthcare.
The general idea of the article is that 64 year old Ken Robson had the historical data from his Apple Watch to back up his claim that he might have a potentially life-threatening sick sinus syndrome which was confirmed by cardiologists; he didn’t need to wear a medical grade heart monitor for a week in order to confirm his symptoms. Mr. Robson had a pacemaker implanted and he’s now fine (I hope).
For me it’s quite rewarding to read such stories and I believe this is only the tip of the iceberg. Because trackers can do so much more in order to make our lives so much easier and safer. Here are just a few examples of how this can happen.
