Mike Tosetto, Node Fest 2017
Last year, Motion Designer Mike Tosetto spoke at Node Fest. Off the back of several significant projects, Mike took this opportunity to deliver a talk that reflected on his busy year and the burnout that came with it.
Noticing burnout and the struggle for work/life balance to be an industry-wide challenge, Mike realises a need to talk about the issues at hand, asking the question: Is there a way to have a sustainable career in this industry, that fosters the individual and allows them to practice their craft?
Tosetto begs the question — at what cost must we do what we love? Realising that working through nights and weekends was inducing strain on his relationships, Mike was forced to put into question what he values more.
As a result, he’s decided that by managing his clients to adopt realistic expectations, enforcing regular working hours to achieve a proper work/life balance, and by strategically planning for bigger projects, he’ll better himself and his team.
