This is exciting. As a part of establishing community and a way of developing means to create change in the industry, events are a fundamental part of what Never Not Creative hopes to do.

Events might be anything from get-togethers, catch-ups and drinks, to panels, discussions, debates, maybe more — you name it.

We want to discuss bold ideas and be challenged. We want to meet, recognise and get down with those of you doing groundbreaking sh*t in the industry. We want this to happen as often as possible, and involve a diversity of audiences. We’d love events to happen without us, just as much as they will happen with us.

We want events to be a core part of our community for everything Never Not Creative.

The Goal

The community is not owned by anyone.

Yes, there are ambassadors who support the community, and people who help keep the community organised, but there is no degree of ownership beyond this.

We have passed ownership to you the community, and we want you to embrace this ownership.

What does that mean?

It means that we want the community to take the initiative to lead itself. Organise Never Not Creative events and be the movement, rather than simply being part of the movement.

If you know someone doing crash-hot stuff, put it in front of people.

If you’ve got a big question that needs some big answers, then organise a panel discussion for people to talk about it.

If you need a hand making this happen (finding a venue, filling a room etc.) then shoot us a message on Facebook and we’ll be happy to help out.

Events are better face to face, but that’s not always possible.

We know that communities are no longer geographically bound — nor are the issues faced by our industry. What this means, is that whilst the problems we face exist on a global scale, we have the ability to confront them on a similarly global scale.

We’re starting this conversation in Australia, but already have interest from creatives in the US, UK, Turkey and beyond. As Never Not Creative grows, we hope to setup networks throughout the world to foster their own communities.

This means events can happen anywhere. They won’t happen without the help of a few motivated people, but they will allow us to become greater than the problems we face.

Never Not Creative meet-ups in Morocco.

Never Not Creative panels in Paris.

Never Not Creative debates in Dubai.

Never Not Creative networking drinks in New York.

You get the idea…

Here’s how it will work.

  • Make sure you’re a member of our Facebook group.
  • Suggest an event and format once you’ve noticed that there are some community members from your area.
  • Create the event on Facebook. If you have limited space at a venue you could also use Eventbrite or Meetup to manage ticket allocations.
  • Events should not be created to make a profit in any way. We understand that you may need to charge for tickets if you have to hire a venue — but we’d prefer that you find alternative ways of funding via sponsorship or donations. (While we can’t promise anything, we’ll consider helping out events if the pitch is good enough)!
  • Share your experience of the event via a post here on Medium. It should include the theme, setup, how you ran the event / discussion, how many people attended, and any actions that are going to be taken. The more we share these details and experience, the better all our events will be.
