Circumstances (Circunstancias)
Aaron Payne was a Sutherland Shire hearing support teacher and a passionate naturalist and hiker. He was visiting the Royal National Park on his own that evening, apparently to conduct research on frogs which he was interested in. The lagoons at Jibbon and Marley Beach both offer good places to find frogs.
The last person to see Aaron was his sister who saw him as he left home in Engadine, Sydney. Authorities found his vehicle on October 20 in a car park along Beachcomber Ave. near the trail head in Bundeena. It appears he was heading into the bushland along the Coast Track by Jibbon Beach.
*The government notice says he was 172cm, was missing since October 19, and his vehicle was found on October 20 (Link). Most other sources say he was 165–170cm, was missing on October 20, and his vehicle was found on October 22 (AMPR). For this article, we have used the most commonly reported information and noted the differences here. However, please be aware that the publicly known facts in this case are somewhat questionable given the many discrepancies.
