It’s been a couple of weeks since Medium began its death spiral amid almost complete silence from the Medium powers that be. The more they do say, the more confused we, the members, are.

I have managed to average about 7 cents a day since the first of January. Oddly, my views and reads have been the best they have been in a long time. Every writer on this platform is experiencing similar dismal earnings. But we have no idea why.

From the plethora of articles written about the disaster we are all involved in, it has become clear that writers have stopped publishing or leaving the site. It does not appear that our earnings will ever return to what we have been used to. Some surmise that Medium may be bankrupt. Maybe Elon Musk secretly bought Medium and is driving it into the ground as he did with Twitter.

I’ve been a member of Medium for about six years, and I have enjoyed making some good friends here while making some extra cash. I am retired, and I guess you could say Medium was my side hustle. Before I joined Medium, I maintained a personal blog, which was a lot of work for pennies, much like what is happening now.
