Discovering Your Accidental Niche
Are you overthinking the decision of whether to write for a particular niche?
If I have to be completely honest about my many failures online, I’d say that in the past, my biggest writing letdowns were the result of the same old bad habit I keep falling into: giving up way too soon.
I’ve jumped between countless writing ventures — affiliate marketing, blogging, self-publishing, freelancing — and left a trail of abandoned projects in my wake.
My counterproductive behavior started becoming clear to me: I was constantly chasing new ideas and not giving my existing ones a chance to flourish.
Then one day, it hit me.
Every time I started something new, I always ended up writing about it. Not just for myself, but to teach others. I wrote about the wins, the failures, the lessons, and the how-to’s. And other writers paid attention.
That moment of clarity helped me realize how my particular niche had been hiding in plain sight all along.
Even though I wasn’t really looking or trying to decide what niche to write for at the time, I discovered my accidental niche.
