I had to pick up some milk at the local grocery store in town, and I wasn’t expecting to find inspiration for a story. Well, that was until I was in the checkout line, and I could hear the manager loudly talking to some poor soul in another room.
Listening to a pissed-off manager talk down to a minimum-wage employee brought me back to the days I worked at Kroger. Even though I never had many issues with managers, I’ve seen them treat other employees like shit over and over again.
Those six months felt more like six years.
