I Feel Old and Beat Up

No pain, no gain or something like that

Unlike popular belief, I don’t spend all of my free time on Medium. Maybe only 20 hours a day.

I like to go outside and stay active to give my brain a break. One thing I enjoy doing is playing basketball with my nephew. Sometimes, he wins, and other times I’ll win.

I used to win all of the time, but things are more equal now. (No, I feel no remorse for letting him almost win before I would come from behind and win to kill his hopes when he was younger)

Anyway, we have been playing basketball a lot lately, and my body hasn’t recovered. The 95-degree heat and high humidity also don’t help things.

I noticed something was wrong with my right knee or quadriceps because it’s been feeling tight the past few days. Despite these issues, I played for about an hour last night.

Well, I woke up this morning, and now I can barely walk.

I don’t feel any pain sitting down, but my knee feels like it has a lot of pressure on it whenever I try to walk if that makes any sense.

So, I guess I’ll be taking a little break from playing basketball for the next few days.

I hurt my knee a few years ago playing basketball because I kept playing and then I couldn’t do much for a few months. Lesson learned.

Moral of the story? If you feel that something isn’t right, take a break and don’t make things any worse.
