I Saved a Bird’s Life…I Think?

My one good deed for 2025

Yesterday, I walked over to my parent’s house. I was about to open the back door when I looked down, and I saw a bird on the patio with stars going around its head like in a cartoon.

I think it was a goldfinch, but I’m not an expert when it comes to knowing my birds. Whatever it was wasn’t in the best of shape because it was standing upright, but it kept rocking back and forth.

Normally, I would let nature take its course, but the bird was about to be cat food if it didn’t get things together. The patio is where my cat likes to hang out when she isn’t sleeping for 20 hours a day.

So, I decided to go inside and get a towel to move the bird to a safer location instead of it becoming the next item on the menu for my cat. My parents also told me that it hit the window while flying, which explains why it was acting like it was half in and half out of this world.

Anyway, I found a towel, and I picked up the bird, and it was literally as light as a feather, or should I say feathers?

I know this article would be much better if I had taken a photo, but I didn’t want to violate HIPAA laws, and I didn’t feel like he was in his right mind to give me permission to use a photo for my article.
