I Was Lazy and Now I’m Paying the Price
Learn from my mistake!
High school basketball season is finally over.
That also means my nephew and I are back to playing one-on-one games. (Random side note — his team lost in double overtime in the regional finals to the top-ranked team, who went on to win state.)
Anyway, he always claims to be too tired to play me after practice during the season, so it’s been over four months since we last played against each other.
The smart thing for me to do would be to stay in shape.
Maybe run or do any type of cardio to avoid the risk of having a heart attack once we start playing against each other. The last thing I want to remember in my life is him trying to give me CPR. Most likely he would just film my demise and post it on TikTok.
Despite those risks, I didn’t bother to do any running.
I did walk a lot and I lifted weights often during those four months, but that’s not the same as staying in basketball shape. In other words, my body was totally not prepared to play basketball a few days ago.
So, I had to listen to him talk crap for over 30 minutes as he eventually won due to me being out of shape. Now he thinks he’s the next LeBron James because he won a basketball series against his…
