Struggling With Motivation to Write

I really would love to write a fun article, but I’m struggling with motivation.

It doesn’t matter if I write the most amazing or the most crappy article because it will still earn around 50 cents or less. Lack of earnings is one thing, but the lack of communication from the people in charge of Medium is even more discouraging. No one seems to know what is going on or if things will ever get better.

I’m also so sick and tired of writing about this topic, but I don’t see the point of putting effort into writing here when nothing seems to change and every day feels the same since January 7th.

What happened to all of our earnings? What is the point of being a Friend of Medium if that money disappears into thin air?

I don’t mind being patient if people are more upfront with me, but the silence makes it nearly impossible to remain motivated to write anything of substance.

I really have no idea how the people who put a lot of effort into writing remain motivated. I can’t imagine spending hours on an article and not even making $1 unless you get lucky with a boost.

If Tony Stubblebine or anyone else has answers, I would love to hear at least an update on why the earnings are almost non-existant for writers. Will things get back to normal like in November, or is this the new normal?

Medium is one of my favorite places to write, but I don’t see how it will be worth the effort if things stay the same.
