It is easy to think about what you’ll do the next day, but planning for five years is harder. Then when you plan for next month, that isn’t easy either.

But if your goal is to be a writer, you need to use some imagination and let your mind run wild.

Writing today is easy, but looking years down the road is the hard part.

You have to figure out where you are and where you want to go.

If you look at a business, writers are very similar.

Most businesses fail after one to five years.

Forbes reported, “20% of small businesses fail in their first year…and 50% of small businesses fail after five years in business.”

From the number of writers I have seen, the statistics are very similar as they come and go.

Writers left as they were disgruntled with their pay. Others left because they were kicked out as spammers. In a recent email update from Zulie Rane, Medium removed 1.8 million spam accounts.

But there is some good news.

Last year, CEO Tony Stubblebine believed Medium was on track to reach 1 million…
