What Happened When I Started Walking 15,000 Steps a Day

The truth is, I’ve been trying to become consistent at walking more for several years.

There would be a week where I would do well and get at least 10,000 steps a day, and then I would go right back to spending too much time at my desk.

Finally, for 3 months, I’ve consistently walked on average 15,000 steps a day, some days, even closer to 25,000.

And I’ve noticed a few things as a result, perhaps not surprisingly:

  1. I sleep better. Perhaps it’s because I’ve expended more energy than I was before, but I’m able to fall asleep rather quickly. I’ve always been a fairly good sleeper once I’m asleep, but sometimes my mind does wander when I’m trying to fall asleep.
  2. I’ve lost weight. About 6 years ago, I had some gut issues, went on a bunch of medications, and gained a substantial amount of weight in a short time. Ever since, I’ve tried so many ways to lose the weight with little success. Now, it’s finally starting to come off and it’s encouraging me to continue building even more healthy habits into my life.
  3. I have more energy. I live on the 3rd floor with no elevator and when I first moved into my building 3…
