What Was I Thinking?!
Being funny is easy until it isn’t
I thought I had a good idea for my Substack. All I had to do was write a couple of humor or satire pieces each week. Sounds easy enough, right?
Well, that was the plan until I suffered a major case of writer’s block. I can write about random day-to-day things easily enough, but actually writing something funny requires some inspiration.
Sometimes, a funny story or experience naturally writes itself, and other times, I’m just staring at a blank screen, thinking about all of the wrong choices I made in life.
Okay, maybe it’s not that serious.
I think the problem is that I’m starting something new at Substack, and it’s slightly overwhelming, and I’m probably overthinking things. I don’t think I forgot how to write in less than a week’s time.
Change is the culprit, and that’s something I don’t always like dealing with in life, but it’s inevitable. Sometimes, change can be a good thing, and it can lead to better things in the long run. Doing the same thing over and over again might be comfortable, but it isn’t always the right thing to do.
Or at least that’s what I keep telling myself.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to go all philosophical. I just lost half of my audience, and the other half went to sleep.
Anyway, I promise I’ll have some funny stories or satire articles here soon enough. At least, that’s the plan. If that doesn’t work out, I’ll abandon my dreams of being funny, and I’ll stick to being serious forever or something like that.
