Drag Queen Confidence
When a Sunday Brunch becomes a lesson in Power
“Sounds fun!” was probably how I answered the question, “What do you think about Sunday brunch at a Drag Bar?”
Because I’m always down for a good brunch and entertainment is optional.
A Drag Bar though? Sure, why not?
Life Transformed At Godfrey’s
It started with a trip into the city, one that isn’t my own. I was there as a caretaker first, a visitor second, and the person I was there caring for after surgery was the one buying the tickets.
Godfrey’s, Home of the Famous Drag Brunch. From the outside, it’s just another space with windows and a door like the other shops and salons lining the street. Inside is a whole other story. And it’s kinda magical.
The gentleman at the door checked our reservations and vaccination cards, then seated us in the small but charming space that serves as a bar and dance club the rest of the week. On Sundays, the space is filled with tables where people will dine on breakfast-type items from a menu. Tip: Get your order in early! Or you’ll still be waiting on your food after the performers are done. Not that this is a bad thing, but you’ll probably be hungry by then. It’s a small kitchen. So pack snacks just in case you are the group waiting.
