Most of us have been running from something. We run for many reasons, but the common denominator of all the reasons is pain.

We feel if we were to sit with our emotional pain it would be too much to bear. And so, instead of learning how to sit with our pain, we keep on running.

But, the world is beginning to see that we need to do something about this fear.

When I run from myself, I run from God.

And when I run from God, I run from myself.

We will only find our true identity in Him.

7 reasons why I think people choose not to follow God

1. They don’t understand the message in the Bible and are afraid to explore it.

2. The idea of God as a “loving Father” is too much for them to accept.

3. Self-sufficiency — I don’t need help, I can do it myself.

4. They believe the lies they’ve been fed and their own negative thoughts. “Who am I to have a special calling?”

5. Confusion — the enemy (Satan) tricks them. Stress/anxiety, etc.

6. Distractions — another tactic of the enemy to keep people in bondage.

7. Fear of the unknown — many are terrified of spirituality because of their fear of losing control.

Trusting God is not easy, but it is worth the effort. It is the only way to find true peace, love, and connection.

If you would like to learn more about why you might be running from God, I have expanded on these 7 points in my podcast below.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”

— Matthew 7:7–8
