Finding A Song I Wrote At 15
I recently looked through photos on my computer and came across the lyrics of a song I had written in high school. From memory, I think I was about 15.
It isn't that good, and the end of it doesn't sound finished. I think at some point, I actually had a melody for it as well, but that is long forgotten.
The words are so simple, but they also resonate. The purity of heart and adoration of the Lord.
I don’t call myself a songwriter. In fact, there are days when I question my ability to write at all.
My ability to write well-crafted sentences or to pull readers into an incredible story isn’t the main objective.
If I am writing what God has asked me to write and using the gifts, He has given me to honour Him. That is all that matters.
So, here is the one and only song that I have written.
Where I Stand
You died on the cross
For my sins
You took my shame away and replaced it with freedom
I thank you
As I stand gazing at the sky,
Praising you, Lord, I say,
I love you, Jesus
You have made my life worth living
