Some say money makes the world go round.

Others say money is the root of all evil.

So, what are we to think? It can get confusing. And especially for us believers who want to do what’s right in God’s eyes.

A lot of people are obsessed with money. I was never obsessed with money, but I was afraid of it. Honestly, I liked spending it, but I was afraid of it.

I didn’t understand money. No one taught me how to use it properly, so naturally, I made a lot of mistakes regarding money.

But even though I am healing from that now, I still hate when people are obsessed with money. I can feel their greed and I don’t like it.

It is not how disciples of Jesus Christ are meant to live.

Let’s go back to the 2 statements above.

Does money make the world go round?

We do need it to live. We use it to trade goods and services. Let’s face it, without money, we don’t eat, have clothes, or a place to sleep at night. So, we do need money.

Is money evil?

What does the Bible say?

The Bible does NOT say money is evil, it says:

The LOVE of money is the root of all evil.

“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”

1 Timothy 6:10

So, let us use money wisely. God is not against prosperity, nor does He say poverty is a virtue.

If we fix our eyes on Jesus and do what we are called to do, money should not be a problem in our lives.

It’s all about balance.
