The Spirit of Your Mind
The spiritual man judges all things, but he himself is not subject to anyone’s judgement. “For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ. — 1 Corinthians 2:16
The apostle Paul writes in Ephesians that we are to “be renewed in the spirit of our minds”. Our minds are not simple computer programs, analyzing the world around us and filtering what goes down to the heart. No, our minds have a spirit.
What does that mean?
It means that our minds are not neutral, analytical tools, but rather they have a mindset. This mindset colors our entire disposition, and existence. Our choices in life are a result of our mindset.
Sometimes, once you are aware of this, you can “just change”. You can “snap out of it”, so to speak, and your life is transformed with a new mindset. What a glorious transformation this can be, at least for a little while.
But most times, I have found that being renewed in our mindset is a work of the Holy Spirit. When Jesus enters our heart, we have the mind of Christ. But the road is often long and the path arduous and confusing on the narrow path…
